Rachel Louise “Granny” Norman Massey, 93, retired nurse, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at her residence on Robert Skelley Road. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Brian Adkisson and Brother Ronnie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Bridges Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Elmore Church of the Nazarene, 5984 Dog Creek Road, Primm Springs, TN 38476. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 6, 1926 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Ben H. Norman and the late Mamie Lindsey Peden Norman. On October 11, 1947, she married Jim Massey who preceded her in death August 18, 1993. Mrs. Massey began her 30-year nursing career with Maury Regional Hospital. After retirement, she enjoyed line dancing, and visiting those who were unable to go out. She was a member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her son, Jim Hugh “Jimmy” (Kay) Massey of Columbia; grandchildren, Travis (April) Massey; Brad (Shabahn) Massey; Beth (Brian) Ring; great grandchildren, Easton Massey, Karli Massey, Kendall Massey, Austin Ring, Kaylee Ring, Adam Ring; foster great grandchildren, Joseph, and Atticus; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Johnson; brothers, Nathan Norman; Clyde Norman; and infant twin siblings, Clayton Norman and Clara Norman. Active pallbearers will be Travis Massey, Brad Massey, Willard Johnson, Jr., Jeff Johnson, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Wayne Green, and Brian Ring. Honorary pallbearers include Boyd Malugin, Howard Alexander, Sam Hooper, Chris Webb, Chris Green, Tim Norman, Tony Malugin, David Chunn, Randy Davidson, Ernie Culberson, Charles Holt, Gary Wayne Holt, and James Black, Jr. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Ransom and nurses of the 3rd West at Maury Regional Medical Center.
