View Funeral WebcastMrs. Rachel Kirk Vick, 94, died Monday, April 20, 2009 at her residence on Woods Circle. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols with Curtis Dowdy officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later time. Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 E. James M. Campbell Blvd., Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury county native was the daughter of the late Burton Clare Kirk and Olive Brooks Kirk. She was a graduate of Haylong High School. In 1941 she married R.M. Vick, Sr. who preceded her in death May 21, 1993. Mrs. Vick was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Jana Duncan of Columbia; two sons, Roy M. (Edna Ree) Vick and James D. "Scooter" (Marsha) Vick both of Columbia; six grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) Vick, Amanda Vick, Rachel (Al) Hurt, Brian (Ryan) Vick, Phillip (Jill) Duncan, Cayce (Scott) Orrell; two step-grandchildren, Anthony Rial, Allison Rial; eleven great-grandchildren, Channing Vick, Phoebe Hurt, Maggie Hurt, Grace Vick, Owen Vick, Dawson Vick, Millie Vick, Carter Duncan, Riley Duncan, Emerson Orrell, Eliot Orrell; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Imogene Tatum of Giles County, Mrs. Roberta Kirk, Mrs. Lucille Vick both of Columbia, and Mrs. Imogene Kirk of South Haven, Mississippi; and special friends Ray and Betty Holden and Olivia Whiteside. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Vick and by siblings, Clarinda Kirk, Bruce Kirk, Norman Kirk, Sam Kirk, Louis Kirk, Burton Kirk and Grace Warf. Pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
