Ramona Allen Welch

Ramona Allen Welch, 59, resident of Washington Avenue in Mt. Pleasant and former census-taker, died Monday, May 12, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Eddie Turner and Rev. Charles Blythe officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. A native of Chattanooga, she was the daughter of the late Rev. R. F. Allen and Gladys Gibson Allen and 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She was a long-time member of First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband, George Michael Welch of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Jayne (Jason) Overstreet of Mt. Pleasant; sons, James Phillip Leslie of Mt. Pleasant and Bubba Arnold of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Johnathan Francis, Joshua "Boo Boo" Francis, Austin "Mookie" Francis; sisters, Joy (Edward) Turner of Columbia and Sandra (Bobby) Hackney of Lawrenceburg; brothers, Bobby (Vera) Allen of Columbia and Ricky Hickman of Chattanooga; very special care-giver and 4 year old great-niece, Cadance Keller and great-niece, Ainsley Bullock and great-nephew, John Mikel Lyle; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Jason Overstreet, Johnathan Francis, Joshua Francis, Bubba Arnold, Jay Shelton, and Jimmy Francis. Honorary pallbearers include Stan Haig, Bobby Brown, Butch Holder, and nephews.
