Rayburn Jerry Hickman, 78, retired Principal for Richland Elementary School and resident of Parrish Hollow Road in Lynnville, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Gibsonville Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial be made to Gibsonville Cemetery, c/o Randall Hickman, 1148 Parrish Hollow Road, Lynnville, TN 38472. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born in Giles County on October 29, 1939, preceding in death by his father, Russell Perry Hickman, mother, Janie Rose Hickman, and brother, Richard Hickman. He was a graduate of Martin Methodist Associates Education, earned his Bachelor's degree from Athens State in Alabama, Master's from Middle Tennessee State University, and Plus 45 from Middle Tennessee State University at Columbia State. Mr. Hickman was a member of Lynnville United Methodist Church.Rayburn married Florence Virginia Burge Hickman on December 25, 1960 and they have three sons, Mickey Ray Hickman, wife, Deidra Johns of Lynnville; Dewayne Terry Hickman, wife, Tina Marie Helton of Lynnville, and their children, Robby Lee Hickman, and Jesse LeLand Hickman; Randall Lee Hickman, wife, Brittney Tillery of Lynnville, and their children, Joseph Tyler Hickman, Zachary Tayler Hickman, and Addison Rose Hickman; great grandson, Benjamin; brother, Joe Perry (Brenda) Hickman of Columbia; sister, Nora Dean (Bryant) Angus of Smyrna; and several nieces and nephews.Active pallbearers will be Richie Hickman, Steve Henson, Kerry Burge, Ralph Spann, Jacob Hickman, and Brad Fisher. Honorary pallbearers include past and present teachers at Richland Elementary School.
