Mr. Raymond Austin McMeen, 80, former bookkeeper and co-owner of Mid-South Livestock and resident of Navaho Trail, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor and Frank McMeen officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late John Nolen McMeen and Bertha Adell Taylor McMeen. He was first married to Margaret L. Williams McMeen who died August 31, 1957; and on June 2, 1961, he married Kathryne Brown McMeen of Columbia. Mr. McMeen was a 1942 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Draughon Business College. He served on the Board of Directors of Federal Land Bank and was a member of Maury County Farm Bureau. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Minnie Ruth (Cecil) Andrews and Della M. Jones, both of Columbia; Janie Lamb of Brentwood; two brothers, Frank (Ava) McMeen of Columbia; Taylor (Judy) McMeen of Brandon, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John McMeen and Donald McMeen. Pallbearers will be Tom Burt, Billy Campbell, Douglas Jones, Mike McMeen, Laran Philpott, Mark McMeen, Lynn Harding, Roy Wilson, Tommy Franklin and B.J. Cline. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Richardson, L. M. Coffey, Jeff Graham, Clyde Yeager, and elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
