View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute Rebecca Barnes Parks, 94, homemaker and resident of Columbia, died Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P.M.at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 16, 1928 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther Barnes and the late Sarah O’Neal Barnes. In 1947, she married James C. Parks who preceded her in death October 17, 2001. She very active in her community and church and was an avid card player. Mrs. Parks was a member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia. Survivors include her daughter, Melanie (Danny) Burt of Shady Grove; grandchildren, Dan (Gabby) Burt of Columbia; Laura Burt of Columbia; great grandchildren, Bryant Burt, Ethan Burt, Katelin Burt, Sadie Burt, Paisley Stanford, Brayden Ford, Adrianna Ford, and Layla Ford. Active pallbearers will be in Bryant Burt, Ethan Burt, Brayden Ford, Eddie Barton, Ricky Harris, and Kenny Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Fellowship, Ayers-Whitney Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church.
