Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Liles Duncan, 87, long-time resident of Riverside Drive, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. Born in the Hampshire Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Liles and Mary Ann Hines Liles. She was a 1939 graduate of Hampshire High School. She attended Riverside United Methodist Church for a number of years. With her late husband, Mrs. Duncan owned and operated Riverside Super Market and 20th Century Motel for many years. She was a member of Knob Creek Home Demonstration Club (FCE) & Progressive Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed making crafts and needlework and active in the American Legion Auxiliary. Affectionally known as "Mama Beck", she is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Tricia" Green and husband, Wayne of Columbia; granddaughters, Brittany Rebecca Green Floyd and husband, Alan of Columbia, Tiffany LuAnn Green Lee and husband, Brannon of Murfreesboro; a great-granddaughter, Greenley Paige Floyd; nieces, Faye McCanless and husband, Allen and Betsy David and husband, Richard of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, Thomas R. "Sonny" McCormick and wife, Gail of Glenburnie, Maryland and Dudley McCormick of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Lucille Norman and Linda Duncan of Lakeland, Florida; a brother-in-law, Jack Duncan and wife, Helen of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, H. Phelps Duncan, November 23, 2001; son, William Thomas "Tommy" Duncan, September 15, 1971; sister, Mabel McCormick, November 13, 1984; and a brother, Ray Liles in 1959. Active pallbearers are Alan Floyd, Brannon Lee, Allen McCanless, Dudley McCormick, Kyle Green, Terry Rippy, Terry Duncan, and Larry Dooley. Honorary pallbearers include Rosie Ann Brown, Dr. Gibran Naddy, Linda Davis, Darlene Baxter, Judy Watson, and Lynn Erwin. The family especially thanks Alvanette Caldwell and Faye Bassham for their care and assistance.
