View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastRev. David V. McGregor, 86, retired Cumberland Presbyterian pastor and resident of West Hardin Drive, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. William Rolman officiating. Burial will follow in McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 29, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. On August 24, 1947, he married the former Mary Agnes Rochelle who preceded him in death on January 11, 2012. Rev. McGregor attended public schools in Birmingham prior to attending Bethel University in McKenzie where he received the Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended Vanderbilt Divinity School for courses in preaching and counseling. He earned his Master's degree in evangelism from Scarritt College. He was raised in the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Birmingham and came under the Birmingham Presbytery and was ordained by them. He had served congregations in Alabama, Kentucky and several in Tennessee including Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and West Side Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nashville, First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia, and retired in April 2013 after twenty years at McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons, Dr. John David (Gayle) McGregor of Clemson, South Carolina; and Bill (Margo) McGregor of Birmingham, Alabama; two brothers, Jim McGregor of Denver, Colorado and Tom (Annette) McGregor of Montgomery, Alabama; two grandchildren, Mary (Todd) West of Columbia, South Carolina and Amy (Jason) Edwards of Birmingham, Alabama; and four great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be the elders of McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, including Tommy Cook, A. C. Howell, Gene Howell, Steve Howell, Tommy Littleton, Tracy McGlocklin, Tammy Morrow, David Sanders, and Gary Weatherford. Honorary pallbearers will include ministers of Columbia Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
