Mr. Revis V. Hobbs Mr. Revis Virgil Hobbs, 91, retired engineer with WSM Radio and Television in Nashville and a resident of The Bridge, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeremy Butt and Myron Keith officiating. Burial will be in the Shane Cemetery in the Campbell Station Community. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 12 noon until time of the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4004 Hillsboro Road, Nashville, 37215. He was a native of Maury County and the son of the late Robert Virgil and Allie Hannah Hobbs. He was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ and a Life Member of the I.E.E.E., a professional engineering association. He graduated from Central High School and later attended electronic classes at the University of Chicago. He was former co-owner of WMLR Radio in Hohenwald and WIZO Radio in Franklin. He was instrumental in putting WKRM Radio in Columbia and numerous other radio stations on the air in Middle Tennessee. During World War II, he was a civilian employee of the Signal Corps. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Julia Fay and Bryan Lane of Hohenwald; and one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Edgar Hobbs and Janie Hetterman of Brentwood; one brother, James Lafayette "J.L." Hobbs of Campbell Station Community; six grandchildren, Dr. Lydia Lane (Dr. Joel) Dworkin, Melissa Lane (Rob) Metcalf, Anna Elizabeth Lane, Alex Bryan Lane, Michelle Lea Hobbs and Suzanne Hobbs Werthan; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ball Hobbs, October 30, 2002; a sister, Margaret Pigg and a brother, Marvin Hannah Hobbs. Pallbearers will be Alex Lane, Bryan Lane, David Hobbs, George Banks, Dr. Joel Dworkin and Seth Roberts.
