Richard Akin "Ricky" Thompson, III

Richard Akin “Ricky” Thompson, III, 50, former Sales Representative for Charter Communications, and resident of Columbia, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with David Craig officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.  Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.   Born July 18, 1968 in Maury County, he was the son of Richard Akin “Dickey” Thompson, Jr. and Ellen Brooks Thompson of Columbia. He was a 1986 graduate of Columbia Academy. Mr. Thompson enjoyed collecting antiques and was an avid animal lover. He was of church of Christ faith. In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Melissa Thompson “Missy” Todd of Columbia; niece, Jadah Todd (Wesley) Terrell of Tuscan, Arizona; aunt, Jodie Brooks Hardison of Lewisburg; and cousins, Stephen (Melissa) Hardison; Taylor Hardison; and Tracey Hardison all of Lewisburg. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include Columbia Academy Class of 1986.
