View Funeral Webcast Richard Edward Brown, Sr., 90, resident of Franklin, died Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Williamson Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born February 18, 1931, in Maury County, he was the son of the late Richard Paul Brown and the late Elois Renfro Brown. On July 25, 1952, he married Frances Virginia Kennedy Brown who preceded in him in death March 1, 2021. He was a graduate of Hay Long High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he completed his graduate and post graduate work. Mr. Brown owned and operated Brown’s Shell and Brown’s Airport Amoco service stations. He was a member of the Fourth Avenue Church of Christ in Franklin. Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Brown Daniels of Nashville; Stephanie Brown (Woody) Wood of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Sophia Brown (Jay) Crawford of Cane Ridge; son, Ricky (Denise) Brown of Franklin; grandchildren, Heather (Scot) Baker of Thompson’s Station; Misty (Todd) Kennedy of Lebanon; Chad (Cindy) Daniels of Cottontown; Ashlee (Mike) Ramsey of White’s Creek; Chelsea Brown of Franklin; Dusty (Heather) Wood of Hendersonville; Shane (Melody) Wood of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Taylor (Billy) Crawley of Smyrna; Jinny Crawford (fiancé, Zac Benedetti) of Cane Ridge; Jamie (Melody) Jacobs of Bethesda; seventeen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Alvin Brown of Nashville; and sisters-in-law, Sherrie Kennedy of Columbia and Glenda Kennedy of Columbia. In addition to his wife of 68 years, Frances, he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Mia Baker; son-in-law, Charles Daniels; and several sisters and brothers-in-law. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Brown, Stephen “Woody” Wood, Jay Crawford, Chad Daniels, Dusty Wood, Shane Wood.
