Richard Eubank Green, M.D. of Woodbury, TN, died Friday, September 28, 2007. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Father Matthew Greathouse of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born December 15, 1926, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Gen. (Ret.) Mack M. Green, M. D. and Emma Eubank Green. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy, Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. A former Major in the United States Army Medical Corps, he was decorated for service in the Korean War. He practiced medicine in Murfreesboro for many years before his 16 years of service with the VA. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, a Member of the American Board of Surgeons and Member of the Canby Robinson Society of the Vanderbilt Medical School. He was also a Lifetime Sustaining Member of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association. Dr. Green was an avid birdwatcher and animal lover. His finest accomplishment was as a kind and supportive father who will be terribly missed by his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Libby Green (James)Mondala of Chicago; John M. Green of Murfreesboro; Sumner (Jonathan) Green-Winkjer of Harbor Springs, Michigan; grandchildren, Ridley Mondala, Mack Mondala, Emma Green, Nathan Winkjer, Granville Winkjer, and Amanda Winkjer; cousins and extended family in Memphis, Maury County, and Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by his kind and loyal friends at The Liars Table, Joe' s Café in Woodbury by whom he was affectionately known as "Doc". He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Eubank Green, Jr.
