Richard Dean Thompson, 53, employee of Commercial Glass & Mirror, Inc., died Friday, May 20, 2016 at his residence on Cathey's Creek Road in Hampshire. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. A native of Orange County, California, he was the son of Birdie Lee Dick Thompson of Columbia and the late Robert Lee Thompson. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising chickens, and horses. Mr. Thompson was an accomplished carpenter. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Regeina Skipper Simmons Thompson of Hampshire; daughter, Heather Renee Thompson McCormack (Jeremy Clegg) of Culleoka; step-daughter, Lee Ann (Chris) Burton of Feltwell, England; grandsons, Treysen McCormack, Connor Clegg, and Noah Clegg, all of Culleoka; sister, Jean (Scott) Churchwell of Columbia; brothers, Leroy Thompson and Chris Thompson, both of Columbia; Bobby (Dianne) Thompson of Lynnville; Jerry (Jennifer) Thompson of Fayetteville; Donnie (Tammy) Thompson of Theta; mother-in-law, Dorothy Jean Skipper Whitehead of Columbia; brothers-in-law, Jeff Skipper of Duck River; Timothy Skipper of Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Teddy Anderson, Jeff Skipper, Timothy Skipper, Ricky Baker, Robert Thompson, Larry Dick, Brandon Churchwell, Matt Kasmarcik, Kenny White, and Eugene "Goldie" Davis.
