Richard Farris Woods, 63, resident of Elm Street, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram with full military honors provided by the United States Army. Born September 24, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Joe Farris Woods and the late Mary Elizabeth Graham Woods. For eighteen years, he served in the United States Army and retired as Staff Sergeant. After retirement, Mr. Woods worked for Waste Management as a material handler. Survivors include his girlfriend, Donna James Amos of Columbia; sister, Diana Dale Woods of Columbia; niece, LeeAnn Staggs of Columbia; twin great nephews, Zachary Staggs and Mitchell Staggs; family friend, Dwight Savage; son, Jason; daughter, Vickie Russell; and grandchildren, Harli Russell; Nicolas Russell; Caleb Bennett; and Nevaeh Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Denny Woods.
