Rita Rajean Pullen Douglass, 68, former Registered Nurse for Maury Regional Medical Center and resident of Columbia, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. On October 9, 1970, she married Carl Ellison Douglass who preceded her in death March 6, 2010. She was a 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a 1969 graduate of Columbia State Community College's first graduating nursing class. Mrs. Douglass enjoyed playing hidden objects games on the computer and was an avid country music fan, she especially loved Garth Brooks and Elvis. She was of Baptist faith. Survivors include her sister, Lynn (Randel) Humphrey of Columbia; nieces, Dena Humphrey (Tony) Usher of Spring Hill; Ashley Humphrey Peden of Columbia; Angela (Tyson) Brock of McMinnville; nephew, Darrin Humphrey of Columbia; several great nieces and great nephews; brothers-in-law, Tommy Douglass; John (Shirley) Douglass; David (Janice) Douglass; and special friends, Paula Renfro; Gladys Horner; R.L. King; Danny and Debbie Fogle.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Bryan Humphrey. Active pallbearers will be Randel Humphrey, Darrin Humphrey, Nick Humphrey, Tony Usher, Robbie Warren, Chad Short, John Douglass, Danny Fogle, and R.L. King. Honorary pallbearers include former co-workers at Maury Regional Medical Center. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Jalila Cunningham, Dr. Christopher Merrick; the Maury Regional Medical Center staff of the 5th floor Critical Care Unit, and her long-time physician Dr. Thomas Dake.
