Robbie Johnson Weatherford

July 1, 1929 — August 30, 2018

Robbie Johnson Weatherford, 89, resident of Hemingway Drive, died Thursday, August 30, 2018 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Yates and Reverend Tommy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born July 1, 1929 in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence Johnson and the late Mary Ella Moore Johnson. At the age of 8, she moved to Maury County where her family settled in the McCains Community.  On April 4, 1948, she married Gerald M. Weatherford who preceded her in death on May 1, 2008. She was a 1947 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College. Her career started at the Middle Tennessee Bank, and later employed by the local Maury County ASCS office-USDA Department of Agriculture for over 40 years. She was the first person in Maury County to receive a 30-year pin from the ASCS office. She was instrumental in hiring high school and college students to measure crops during the summer. A member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she served as church treasurer with her husband, Gerald, for over 30 years, was active in the Bethany Sunday School Class, and Women’s Ministry. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary M. Weatherford on December 3, 2017. Her sisters, Mary Flowers and Mildred Johnson; brothers, Paul, Harold, and W.A. Johnson; sisters-in-law, Era Dell Johnson, Roberta Johnson, Sara Ella Lanier, and Ruth Weatherford; and brother-in-law, Odie Weatherford, Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann Weatherford; nieces and nephews, Patsy (Jim) Young; Sandra (Glen) Pierce; Nancy Hopper; Pam (Charlie) Huffman; Tanna (Randy) Carroll; Lyn (Steve) Carr; Ray (Regina) Flowers; Kenny (Charlene) Johnson; Ricky Johnson; Susan (Larry) Carothers; Sherry Lanier; Russell (Patti) Weatherford; and several great and great great nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be M.T. Potts, Donald Kincade, Ken Johnson, Scotty James, Tommy Cook, Tony Massey, and Bob Brooks. Honorary pallbearers include Martha and Jack Barron, Freeda Potts, Bill and Jean’Marie Hull, Russell Weatherford, John Waldrum, Wendel Hartman, Larry and Carolyn Goats, and members of the Bethany Sunday School Class.
