Robert “Bo” Brown

February 6, 1964 — February 27, 2025

Palm Springs, CA

Robert “Bo” Brown, born on February 6, 1964, in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away in Palm Springs, California.

Bo dedicated his career to special education, serving students in Maury and Davidson Counties for 30 years before retiring. His passion for the marching arts led him to coach color guard at John Overton High School, where he fostered a close-knit community of lifelong friends under his leadership, the team achieved back-to-bac championships—winning the 1994 Scholastic Class A title and the 1995 Scholastic Open championship. He also had the honor of participation in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

A talented performer himself, Bo cherished his time marching with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps and had planned to join the Celebration Alumni Corps in Indianapolis later this year. Beyond his contributions to education and the arts, he worked as an admissions coordinator at Michael’s House Recovery Center, offering support and guidance to those in need.

Bo had a deep love for his dogs—Saki, Bonsai, and Ms. Celie—who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann LaDuke Brown and Robert H. Brown Jr., as well as his siblings, Mark E. Brown and Jo Ann Brown. He is survived by his nieces Rachel (Caleb) Garret and Kristin (Clay) Colvett, along with great-niece and nephews Giles, Matthew, and Brown. He also leaves behind dear friends who were like family, including Tina Brazell and David Baker. Special thanks are extended to Kent and Bo’s Palm Springs neighbors for their kindness and support.

A Celebration of Life to be held at John Overton High School band room (4820 Franklin Rd., Nashville, TN) on April 1, 2025. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:00, with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps (https://www.spiritofatlanta.org/support-us) or Heroes in Recovery (https://heroesinrecovery. com/). Bo’s legacy of dedication and friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
