Mr. Robert Lee Call, 77, retired owner of Columbia Wholesale Foods for forty years and resident of Alpine Drive, died Sunday, September 29, 2002 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Henry County native was the son of the late Robert Homer Call and Oma Angeline Kimbel Call. He served as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during World War II at Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, San Diego and the Hawaiian Islands and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and the VFW. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Bettie Wynelle Call of Columbia; one daughter, Sandra (Ronnie) Woody of Spring Hill; one son, Robert "Bobby" (Tricia) Call of Columbia; one sister, Capitola (Harold) Pillow of Paris; five grandchildren, Jonathan Woody and Melissa Woody both of Spring Hill; Sara (Dr. Mark) Hughes of Jacksonville, Florida; Amy (Jeremy) Luna of Memphis; and Robert "Rob" Call of Columbia. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Call. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Woody, Rob Call, Jeremy Luna, Mark Hughes, H.P. Woody, Evans Underwood, Don Henson, and Paul Ragsdale.
