Robert Ray "Bobby" Crowell

Robert Ray "Bobby" Crowell, 60, Co-owner of Ted Houston Auto Sales and resident of Trotwood Avenue, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ezell Rose and Judge Bobby Sands officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Riverview Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 775, Columbia, TN 38402 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas, 75284-0692. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lewis County native was the son of the late Leland Samuel "Jack" Crowell and Helen Augustus Coffee Crowell. He was a graduate of Central High School, attended Columbia State Community College and earned his Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. Crowell loved to sell cars and was associated with Ted Houston Auto Sales for over thirty years where he always said he got his real education on Carmack Boulevard. He was a member of the Jaycees, Elks Lodge and The Shop and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Brandy Crowell of Columbia; sons, Adam (Sarah) Crowell of Columbia, Tyler (Claire) Crowell of Nashville; daughters, Ashley Brooke (Michael) Johnson of Brentwood, Phoebe Turner of Columbia; grandchildren, Jack Crowell, Lillian Johnson, Ryan Crowell and Hattie Jane Crowell; brother, Danny Crowell of Columbia; special family friend, Joan Nichols of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Crowell and brother, Sammy Crowell. Active pallbearers will be Byron Harrington, Tim Laws, Tony Scott, Mike Lentz, Mike Bray, Tommy Littleton, Ronnie Attkisson and Ted Houston. Honorary pallbearers include Randy Staggs, Randy Rose, David Wise, Zach Crowell, members of The Shop, Elks Lodge, and of Riverview Baptist Church.
