Robert Dallas Bell, 95, retired employee of Cranford Lumber Company and resident of Greenfield Bend Road, died Friday, April 5, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Bend Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 21, 1923 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Eugene Dallas Bell and the late Ida Lynn Bell. He was a 1942 graduate of Hampshire High School, where he played basketball. During World War II, he worked at Oak Ridge as part of the Manhattan Project and played roller hockey. Mr. Bell was also a farmer who enjoyed wood working, fishing, trapping, and bee keeping. He was a member of the Columbia Area Bee Keepers Association and Greenfield Bend Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for many years. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, whom he married December 12, 1953, Flora Jane Tidwell Bell of Williamsport; children, Bobby Joe (JoAnn) Bell of Waynesboro; Darlene Bell (Tommy) Primm of Brentwood; Frank Eugene Bell of Finger, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jessi Bell (Eddie) Pruett, Nathan Kyle Bell, Virginia Faye Primm, Katherine Jane Primm (Zachary) Rose, Luke Andrew Primm; and great grandchildren, Alex Pruett, Clay Pruett, and Savannah Bell. Active pallbearers will be Nathan Bell, Luke Primm, Alex Pruett, Tommy Anderson, James Mathes, and Pat Franks. Honorary pallbearers include Larry Weaver, and members of Greenfield Bend Church of Christ.
