Mr. Robert Knox Dotson, 66, retired chemical engineer, died Friday, May 28, 2005 in Greenville, South Carolina. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Bryant Cemetery in the Mooresville Community with Father Thomas Perrin officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Following the graveside service, the family will visit with friends at the residence of his mother-in-law, Booker Place, 4504 Scott Hollow Road. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. He was a faithful alumnus of the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. He retired as a Senior Staff Engineer from Hoechst Celanese Corporation, now Mitsubishi Polyester Film Corporation, where he patented an invention. He served as an officer in the U. S. Navy and was a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, the former Emily Ingram of Columbia, whom he stood by through a lengthy illness. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Dotson Ross of Greer, South Carolina; a son, Robert Ingram Dotson and wife, Christina, of Simpsonville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, who brought great joy to his life, Emily Ross, Daniel Ross and Brian Ross; and his mother-in-law, Anna Worth Ingram of Columbia. Floyd White, Emmitt Barker, Jim Owens, Bill Lakey, and Lee Spruill will serve as pallbearers.
