View Funeral Webcast  Robert Douglas “Bob” Lloyd, 59, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 4, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Highland Church of Christ, 497 East James Campbell Blvd.. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the church. He will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Bob was a native of West Tennessee, born in Greenfield and raised in Bradford. Bob attended Freed-Hardeman University from 1977 - 1981, where he met the love of his life, René Richardson. Bob and René married in 1982 and enjoyed 37 wonderful years of marriage. Bob had a strong faith in Jesus Christ which was demonstrated by the way he loved and served others so well. He always put others’ needs before himself and exemplified a true servant’s heart. He was the best husband, father, father-in-law, son, brother, friend, and “Papa B” a family could have. Bob and René moved to Columbia, Tennessee in 1988, and were faithful members of Highland Church of Christ where Bob served as both a deacon and an elder. Bob was retired from the Tennessee Department of Health and Human Services, and was most recently employed by National HealthCare Corporation. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife René Lloyd, daughters Emily (Ryan) Fowler and Laura Beth (Pablo) Varela; granddaughters Cora, Bayleigh, and Brooklyn Fowler; his brother David (Linda) Lloyd; niece Shelley (Bryan) Snead, nephew RC Lloyd and great-niece Natalie Snead; and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.  Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, Betty and Johnny Lloyd. He left an unending legacy of love, faith, and grace that will be felt for generations. Pallbearers will be Michael Richardson, Anthony Richardson, Stacy Richardson, John Clark, Felix Dent, Doug Adkisson, Dan Caldwell, and Randall Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include the Elders and Deacons of Highland Church of Christ.Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Missions Fund.
