Robert Lynn “Kos” Harris, age 64, died Friday, January 15, 2021 after a ten-year battle with cancer. He was the youngest child of the late Flora and William Harris. He was born March 28, 1956 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, where his father was stationed while serving in the United States Air Force. Robert lived in three countries and three states by the age of ten. After his father retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Columbia in 1970, where he attended Columbia Military Academy for three years and earned the nickname “Kos.” He enjoyed being a team manager for Coach Gene McBee’s basketball teams during his time at Columbia State. His enjoyment of sports was reflected in a loyalty bordering on favoritism for the New York Giants and the Chicago Cubs. Most of all he was a faithful University of Tennessee sports fan. He was looking forward to the U.T. basketball teams success this year. He played on a number of softball teams as a young adult and loved the game of golf with family and friends until he was unable to play. Mr. Harris worked in route sales until he was medically retried from the Lance Corporation in 2010. He is survived by his son, Buck Harris; and the joy of his life, his grandsons, Jacob Alan Harris and Andrew Bryant Staggs; sister, Brenda Tune; and brother, William Harris, Jr. Due to COVID-19 there will be no traditional funeral services and a memorial celebration will be held in the future. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. In lieu of flowers or donation, the family would like to suggest to stop using and smoking tobacco products. The family would like to express a special thanks to the many people at Maury Regional Medical Center, NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care, and Caris Hospice, for you all are truly heroes in these difficult times.
