Mr. Robert English Rippey, 83, retired co-owner of Rippey Auto Parts, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at his residence on Oakwood Dr. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville, Alabama with Rev. Phillip Newton officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1212, Columbia, TN, 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ollie Brown Rippey and Mary Kindel Rippey. He was married to Helen Taylor Rippey who preceded him in death March 7, 1996. He was a member of the American Legion and attended the Methodist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, James M. Rippey, Jr., Sheila (Billy) R. Fleming, Randolph Scott (Martha) Jackson, Stephanie (Jim) Derryberry all of Columbia, Mary J. (Jim) Cheatham of Culleoka, David B. Jackson of Franklin, Lady Alice Jackson of Chattanooga, Kay (Rick) Dorland of Smyrna, Rita (Mike) Duty of Whitehouse, Rev. Phillip Newton of Memphis, Joey Newton of Montgomery, Alabama; and special caregivers, Amy Jordan and Shannon Bridges both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James M. "Cotton" Rippey, Ed K. Rippey and two sisters, Alice Sherman Jackson and Mary Evelyn Rippey Jackson. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
