Robert Crandall Rusby, 90, retired Director of Manpower with Boy Scouts of America and resident of Blackburn Lane, died Monday, September 20, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Brown, Rev. Jeff Jacob, and Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, at a later date. He was married to Helen Eileen Goss Rusby who preceded him in death on December 6, 2002. Mr. Rusby served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a Communications Officer on the USS Enterprise. He was a member of the Blue Lodge of Masons, Shriners and was of the Episcopal faith. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Anne (Bill) Draper of Columbia; one son, Col. (Ret.) Bill (Ann) Rusby of Camano Island, Washington; brother-in-law, Bill (Anna Mae) Goss of Springfield, Illinois; two grandchildren, William Robert Draper and John Batts Draper, both of Columbia; and one niece, Julie Kunz of Springfield, Illinois.
