Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Ephesus Church of Christ on the Mooresville Pike, with Burton Daimwood and John Vaughan officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery. Born and reared in Maury County, he was the youngest child of the late Martin Bailey Scott and Daisy Murphy Scott and a 1942 graduate of Culleoka High School. He restored the historic Nathaniel Moore home near Culleoka and resided there with his wife for many years. Mr. Scott served as Maury County Tax Assessor from 1950 to 1960 and was employed by Hooker Chemical Company for a number of years. He was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Katherine Harlan Scott; daughters, Sherisse Scott (Michael) Hurst of Knoxville and Kaye Scott (T. Scott) Smith of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina; son, Robert Harlan (Lena Towler) Scott, Sr. of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Robert Harlan Scott, Jr. of Salt Lake City, Utah, Katherine Martin Rainey of Blacksburg, Virginia, Andrew Towler Scott of Basalt, Colorado, Cory Rainey Davis of Seattle, Washington, William Campbell Scott of Boulder, Colorado, Rebecca Scott Blank of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, Ralston Everett Smith of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, Nell Elizabeth Smith of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Alice Woods Scott of Salt Lake City, Utah, Katherine Parker Scott of Salt Lake City, Utah, Towler Wilson Scott of Basalt, Colorado; niece, Mary Bailey Palmer of Plano, Texas; nephews, Steven Scott of Hohenwald and Stanley Scott of Culleoka. He was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Martin Scott Ralston and a brother, Ewell Scott. Active pallbearers are Steven Scott, Stanley Scott, Ed Harlan, Al Harlan, David Harlan, Mac Orr, Patrick Harlan, Don Harlan, Steve Sharpe, and Henry Chapman. Honorary pallbearers include Ray Morrow, Daniel Morrow, Donald Scott, John Fleming, and Jim Wilson. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
