Mr. Robert C. Slaughter Mr. Robert C. Slaughter, 87, retired from Monsanto Company with 32 and é years service and a resident of Pleasant Drive, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Eastside Church of Christ with Elmer Lusk and Joseph Wells officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Joe Macer officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1212, Columbia, Maury Regional Hospital Heart to Heart Group, 1224 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, or Eastside Church of Christ Building Fund, 1024 East Valley Drive, Columbia. The Maury County native was the son of the late Wheeler Slaughter and Sara Ann Scott Slaughter. He was a long-time member and custodian of the Eastside Church of Christ and active in the Maury Regional Hospital Heart to Heart Group for a number of years. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Annie Marie Brown Slaughter of Columbia; a daughter, Retha Ann Jett of Columbia; three sisters, Jewell (B.J.) Lane, Alice (Clyde) Foster, both of Nashville and Erma (Alfred)of Columbia; a brother, Austin Slaughter of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Doris Brown Pratt and Mattie Brown Williams; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Neva Slaughter Williams and Bertha Slaughter Gordon. Active pallbearers are Donald White, Bill Jones, Freddy Slaughter, Shane Hickman, Alfred Pagel and Wayne Williams. Honorary pallbearers include Monsanto retirees, Elders and Deacons of Eastside Church of Christ, members of the Maury Regional Hospital Heart to Heart Group and 1st Floor Nursing Staff.
