Robert Tanner McCall, 88, former resident of Columbia, died Friday, May 24, 2019 at his residence in Smyrna. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born July 27, 1930 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Joseph E. McCall, Sr. and the late Isabell Frizzel McCall. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1949, and on April 4, 1949, he married Ruby Nell Stanfill McCall who preceded him in death on August 10, 2006. He retired as a train master from CSX railroad in Bloomington, IN after 30 years of service with the railway system. He was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ. He is survived by his sons, Robert Alan (Jan B.) McCall of Smyrna, Paul Michael (Barbara L.) McCall of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Sarah Alexis McCall (Anthony) Littlefield of Murfreesboro; great grandson, Guy Littlefield of Murfreesboro; sister, Mary Helen Fox; brother-in-law, Charles Brown of Columbia. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by brothers. Joe McCall, Jr., Kenneth McCall, Darrell McCall, and Gene McCall. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
