Mr. Robert Lee "Buddy" Thompson, 58, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at his residence on Ordway Place in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Rush officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of the late Willard Maury Thompson and Zelma Love Thompson. He was a 1963 graduate of Hampshire High School and a former employee of Chevron in Huntsville, Alabama and Shoney's in Nashville. He was a former member of Cedar Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law Joan and Farris Gunter of Barnsville, Georgia, Joy and James York of Nashville; brothers and sisters-in-law Billy Frank and Rubye Thompson of Columbia, Willard "Sonny" and Betty Thompson of Toney, Alabama; brother-in-law, Robert Cheek of Nashville; sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Cheek and two brothers, Rayburn Thompson and Roy Thompson. Pallbearers will be Gene Ray Baxter, Joe Duncan, Jimmie Patton, Blair Binkley, Richard Thompson and Frank Cathey.
