ROBERT WHEELER Robert Wheeler, 77, retired employee of Stauffer Chemical Company and resident of Lyon Street, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Wright officiating. Entombment will be in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. The Hamilton, Ohio, native was the son of the late Samuel Wheeler and Elva Menninger Wheeler. He served in the U. S. Air Force and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1951 with a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Wheeler was employed by Monsanto Chemical Company for several years and retired from Stauffer Chemical Company in 1985 after over twenty years of employment. He became an avid golfer upon retirement and enjoyed playing with his cronies at Stoneybrook. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Margaret Ann Bishop Wheeler of Columbia; one daughter, Jane W. (Jay) Johnson of Franklin; one son, Warren Wayne Wheeler of Hermitage; two grandchildren, Mark Wheeler Johnson and Elizabeth Ann Johnson, both of Franklin; four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews in Ohio and Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Tim Holt, J. C. Holt, Norman Wayne Davis, David Lee Johnson, Charles King, Sr., Jimmy Davis, Keith Milton, Ron Walraven, John Benderman, Charles King, Jr., Stanley Smith, and Larry Ballard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Oncology Group at Maury Regional Hospital and Dr. Anuradha Mann.
