Roberta Foster Sharp Kirk, 91, long-time resident of Windermere Drive, died Thursday, August 29, 2019 at NHC Place at the Trace. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 23, 1928 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Flourney Foster and the late Lacy Duncan Foster McMillon. At an early age, her father died and she was raised by Lacy and Clarence “Jack” McMillon. She was a 1946 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She began her 47-year career with Middle Tennessee Bank as a teller and then retired as Vice President. Mrs. Kirk was a long-time active member at Highland Church of Christ, and enjoyed spending time with her son, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and “The Gang”. Survivors include her son, Wayne Foster (Denise) Sharp of Nashville; and grandchildren, James Foster Sharp of Oxford, Mississippi; and Nathan Douglas Sharp of Nashville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morgan “Sam” Kirk; and brother, Mayburn Edward “Bucky” Foster. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include Carol and Alfred Haywood, and Lavonne Oakes.
