Roger Wilkes Barlar, 64, retired employee of Union Carbide, died Monday, October 10, 2005, at his residence on the Campbellsville Pike in the Yokley Community.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Giles County native was the son of the late Brown Barlar and Allene Bonds Barlar. Mr. Barlar was a member of Operating Engineers Local #912 and the UCAR Retirees Club. He was a member of the McDonald's Coffee Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and to the Lord's church and many friends. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Barbara Russell Barlar of the Yokley Community; daughter and devoted son-in-law, Janet and Michael McAlister of Columbia; daughter, Julie Barlar Welsh of Lewisburg; three adored grand"babies", Andrew Barlar McAlister, Abby Kaylene McAlister, and Emily Ann Welsh; and two brothers, Larry (Jeannie) Barlar of Lewisburg; Donald (Linda) Barlar of Lynnville. Pallbearers will be Harvey Spann, Ed Estes, Ed Lucas, Gary Underwood, Gary Johnson, and Ricky Russell.
