Roger Dale Rubert

March 7, 1955 — December 10, 2007

Mr. Roger Dale Rubert, 52, employee of Smurfit Stone Container Board in Lewisburg, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at his residence on McKnight Road in Culleoka. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jimmy Ketchum officiating. Burial will be in Haynes Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of Eleanor Ervin Rubert of Culleoka and the late Bobby Rubert, Jr. He was a former longtime employee of Union Carbide and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ. Mr. Rubert was an avid fisherman and very devoted loving "Pawpaw". Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Debra Dianne Ashworth Rubert of Culleoka; three sons, Bryan Rubert of Culleoka, Billy Joe Rubert of Iowa ,Jason (Kris) Francis of Summertown; sister, Connie (Ross) Pullen of Columbia; three grandchildren, Baylee Francis, Cory Francis, Chase Long all of Summertown; two nieces, Brandi (Phil) Mash, Christina Rubert; two nephews, Jeremy Rubert, Dakota Pullen; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lane Rubert and a niece, Jamie Rubert. Pallbearers will be Jesse Lyons, Jimmy "Scrib" Scribner, Richard "Amp" Allen, Doyle "Roscoe" Brannon, Jeff McKay and Donald "Disco" Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Ashworth, Buddy Ashworth, Bonni Ashworth, employees of Smurfit Stone and former co-workers of Union Carbide. Special thanks to Rita Hargrove, Carolyn Osborne, Wayne McNeese, Dr. Ruth Lamar, Dr. Gaylon Harris and Hospice of the Highland Rim.
