View Funeral Webcast Ronald Glenn “PaPaw” Attkisson, 62, owner/operator of Ted Houston Auto Sales, Maury County Commissioner District 1, and resident of Viewpointe Way, died Monday, January 21, 2019, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Judge Bobby Sands officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Ritual provided by the Elks Association. Visitation with friends will begin Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. concluding with a Masonic Service at 8:00 P.M. and the family will visit again Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born April 10, 1956, he was the son of the late Brownie Hardison Attkisson and the late Upshaw Buchanan Attkisson, Jr. A lifelong resident of Maury County, he attended Maury County Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Columbia Central High School. After eight years employment at Monsanto, he started employment at Ted Houston Auto Sales in 1983 and became sole owner and President in December 2013. He served as County Commissioner for the 4th District from 2014 – 2016 and was currently served as Maury County Commissioner of District 1. A member of Columbia Elks Lodge 686, he was a Past Exalted Ruler of Lodge 686, Past State President of TN Elks Association, Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, and was currently serving as Secretary of TN Elks Association. A 32nd Degree York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason of Columbia Masonic Lodge 31, he was Past Worshipful Master of Columbia Lodge 31, Past President of Columbia Shriners Club, and a member of the Al Menah Shriner Temple. He was also a member of The Shop. Mr. Attkisson was a very meticulous person with his yard and in everything that he was involved. He cherished his family and was a very doting grandfather. Survivors include his wife whom he married December 13, 1988, Jane Haarbauer Attkisson of Columbia; children, Kimberly Shannon (Billy) Matlock of Murfreesboro, Jessie Rae (Benton) Alexander of Columbia, Justin Buchanan Attkisson of Columbia, Jenny Ann (Kenny) Kelley of Columbia, Leonard Brandon (Amanda) Attkisson of Murfreesboro; sister, Sylvia Gail Attkisson Johnson of Columbia; brother, Steve Attkisson of Columbia; grandchildren, Taylor Ann Matlock, Kori Elisabeth Kelley, Jackson Ryan Kelley, Caleigh Dyan Attkisson, Ansley Jane Alexander, Abigale Rae Alexander, Addison Reece Alexander, Allie Campbell Alexander, Ashlan Rose Alexander, Leonard Chase Attkisson; uncle, Gerald Hardison of Columbia; and aunt, Dorothy Hardison of Lawrenceburg. Active pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and the Friday Night Mikes. Honorary pallbearers will include members of The Shop, members of Elks of Tennessee, and members of Columbia Masonic Lodge 31.
