View Funeral Webcast Ronnie Stewart Greene, 71, retired employee of General Electric and General Motors died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Highland Church of Christ, 497 E. James Campbell Blvd., Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 21, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Fred Stewart Greene and the late Vivian Pauline Dugger Greene. He served in the United States Army as a 1st Signal Brigade during Vietnam from 1966-1968. A family man, Mr. Greene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, and spending time at the beach. His greatest success in life was marrying his wife and having two great daughters, which he was always so proud of. He was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 4969, and Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 27, 1970, Brenda Launita Perdue Greene of Columbia; daughters, Britney (Sean) McGowan, Stephanie (Seamus) McGowan both of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Shirley (Don) Myers of Columbia; grandchildren, Grant Stewart McGowan, Reece Brennan McGowan, Ansley Claire McGowan, Rylee Belle McGowan, Finley Rose McGowan, Harlan Patrick McGowan, Reed Sutton McGowan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Greene. Active pallbearers will be Clyde Kelly, L.G. White, Billy Gowan, Jerry Brady, Wayne Jones, Wyndall Pullen. Honorary pallbearers include Don Myers, Mark Myers, Pat Greene, Mike Greene, Joe Garten, Doug Attkisson, and Arthur Hammons.
