Ronnie J. Turner, 66, retired employee of City of Spring Hill Wastewater Department, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at his residence on Sugar Tree Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, Jack Powers, officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Paul J. Turner and the late Pauline Goosby Turner. On July 26, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra "Sandy" Baker Turner, and they had recently celebrated forty-seven wonderful years of marriage. The 1969 graduate of Columbia Central High School proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1969 - 1971. He was previously employed at Monsanto Chemical Company and Bridgestone Tire Company in LaVergne before focusing his career and retirement from the City of Spring Hill. He had a great passion for antique cars and motorcycles. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Phyllis Turner (Jack) Powers of McKinney, Texas; sisters-in-law, Anita Turner of Columbia; Shelia Turner of Spring Hill; Keela Hood of Lynnville; brothers-in-law, Randy Baker and Larry Baker, both of Lynnville; and several nieces and nephews, including two very special nieces whom they considered as their grandchildren, Kristen Hood and Shelby Hood. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Chappell; and three brothers, Larry Turner, Marion "Bubba" Turner, and Ricky Turner. Active pallbearers will be Mike McDonald, Dennis Edwards, Bobby White, Paul Prince, Joe Colvett, Craig Holley, and Buddy Stoops. Honorary pallbearers will include retired employees of Monsanto, former co-workers at Bridgestone Tire and City of Spring Hill Wastewater Department, and friends of The Toy Box.
