Dr. Roy Willis Hedrick, 55, software consultant for Advanced Utilities Corporation in Toronto, Canada and teaching professor at several universities, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at his residence on Harlan Road. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Emily Barker Fox officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. A native of Winter Haven, Florida, he was the son of the late Willard Washington and Leona Genelle Cromwell Hedrick. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant and sang in several men's choirs for a number of years. He was a 1970 graduate of Columbia Central High School where he served as President of Junior Achievement. He earned an associate degree at Columbia State Community College and bachelor's degree at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. He earned his doctoral degree in business education from Memphis State University. Dr. Hedrick taught business education at Indiana State University, Stephen F. Austin Univesity, and the University of South Carolina. Survivors include a sister, Grace (Aubrey) Thomas of Hartsville; five brothers, Jack Hedrick and Jans (Patsy) Hedrick of Columbia, Tommy (Linda) Hedrick of Mt. Pleasant, Ronnie Hedrick of Lewisburg, and Joe (Patsy) Hedrick of Columbia; nieces, Jillian Brandi Hedrick, Shari Thomas, Lisa Hedrick, Kay Sands, Krystal Hedrick, Sonya Carroll, and Candy Hedrick; nephews, Zachary Hedrick, Brian Hedrick, Stanford Hedrick, Kenneth Hedrick, and Anthony Hedrick. Active pallbearers are Robin Jack, Gary Howell, Troy Blackwood, Rob Erickson, Skip Keith, Tom Royer, and Gary Potter. Honorary pallbearers are Eileen Petralia, Amanda Speed, Dallas Jeter, and Donald Jack.
