Roy Henry Mitchell, 93, resident of Culleoka, died Sunday, February 16, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with Brad Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday, February 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the service time at the funeral home.

Born September 1, 1931, in Culleoka, TN, he was the son of the late George H. Mitchell and the late Willie Mae Powers Mitchell. Roy married the love of his life, Shirley Cummins Mitchell, on May 19, 1962 and spent 52 wonderful years together, until her death on December 24, 2014. He was a long time employee of Maury Regional Medical Center working in the Maintenance Department. Roy was an avid fisherman, was an excellent gardener, and loved all music. Roy was a member of the Culleoka United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, David Troy Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Mildred (Otis) Whitley, Faye Dodson, Marie Cummins; special nieces, Pam (Jeff) Hargrove, and Lynn (Bob) D’Amato; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, “Bunny” Mitchell Pukenis; and his nephew Randy Whitley.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Whitley, Willie Henson, Justin Whitley, Robert D’Amato, Tim Sharpton, Junior Cummings, Jeff Hargrove, Dennis Street, and Steve Patterson.
