Donations can be made to the Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Ave, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com He was born November 18, 1955, and was the son of the late Roy Lewis Scribner, Sr. and the late Alice Carpenter Scribner. Lewis graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1973, and pursued a career at Kroger before retiring early due to health problems. He resided and worked here all his life and was loved by all. Lewis was very much a people person and loved all the people in Columbia. He had the uncanny ability to remember everyone and everything about the people he knew and cared for. He was always ready to lend an ear for any worries that his friends had and rarely complained about the hardships he endured himself. He remembered all the names, places, problems, and triumphs of the ones he loved. If you or a family member had been sick, if you had lost a pet, or if you had a victory to celebrate such as a new baby in your family, or a graduation or wedding he rejoiced or cried with you. Everything in his friend’s lives was important to him. He was always at the stores on the south side of town but you could usually find him at Walmart charging his scooter and talking to everyone coming and going. You could also see his smiling face at T.J. Maxx, Penny’s, or any other stores or businesses on the south end of town. Everyone looked for him and waved or took a minute to chat with Lewis. He always made you feel you were in a better place and were indeed blessed to have a friend to lift you up and help you through whatever was bothering you. He loved the Lord and all the people. Everyone in town will miss Lewis! His family and friends would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who loved Lewis, and a special thanks to the Central class of 1973 and for the great time he had at the last class reunion.
