MRS. RUBY CHUPPMrs. Ruby Cecile Childress Chupp, 86, resident of Wedgewood Dr., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Life Care Center, following a long battle with Alzheimers disease.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Jump and William D. Smith offficiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, c/o Margaret Prince, 115 Skyview Drive, Columbia, TN, 38401.The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Roy Childress and Bessie Smith Childress. She was married for sixty three years to John Frank Chupp who preceded her in death October 9, 2000. The 1937 graduate of Columbia Central High School was a former long-time resident of the Greens Mill Community and a member of Highland Church of Christ. Mrs. Chupp was well known for her love of fine antiques and was an avid antique collector. Mrs. Chupp is survived by a son, Michael (Janet) of Spring Hill and a daughter, Cecilia; two brothers, Robert (Ruth) Childress, Jack (Betty) Childress both of Columbia, four grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff) O'Leary of New Jersey, Scott Chupp, Ken (Terri) Jones, Shannon (Robin) Jones all of Columbia; five great-grandchildren, Michael O'Leary, Sarah O'Leary, Hayden Jones, Logan Jones, Keaton Jones; and special friend and companion Linda Sanford.Pallbearers will be Ben Gary, James Gary, L.B.Chappell, Jr., Henry Smith, Charlie Rankin and Jeff O'Leary. A special thank you to Dr. Darrel R. Rinehart and staff for their care and kindness.
