Mrs. Rubye Gertrude Collins Morrow, 85, homemaker and former longtime resident of Sheddan Drive, died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at Alterra Sterling House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Morrow and Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Chapel Hill native was the daughter of the late Athie Lee Collins and Ruby Gladys Thompson Collins. She was a graduate of Summertown High School where she was a star basketball player. An avid sports enthusiast, she was an active participant in the Senior Olympics where she won numerous medals at both the state and national levels. She served as a volunteer with the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary for twenty-seven years. She was a member of the Collegevue Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Hubert Lee Morrow of Columbia; two sons, Carl (Martha) Morrow of Bardstown, Kentucky; Joe (Laura) Morrow of Spartanburg, South Carolina; three daughters, Veda Jackson of Jackson, Tennessee; Kaye (Joe) Richards of Columbia; Cindy (Ray) Tinsley of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Lucille Collins Ball of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Jane Collins of Columbia; fourteen grandchildren, Julie Morrow, Dale Morrow, April (Jeremy) Elliott, Michael (Jennifer) Morrow, Kathy (Jason) Hugg, Karen Morrow, Tara Jackson, Gary Jackson, Amanda Jackson, Lee (Heather) Richards, Scott (Lari) Richards, Brady Richards, Jenny (Mikey) Ervin, Lisa (Michael) Terry; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry Jackson; a son-in-law, Mark Jackson; and two brothers, Tom Collins and Leon Collins. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and family members. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
