Rubye Mai Blocker Westmoreland, 81, retired employee of DuPont/Spontex and resident of Maple Court, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Life Care Center of Columbia.Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with her grandson, Dr. Derek Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to C.R.E.S.T. She was a graduate of Culleoka High School and a member of the Church of Christ.Survivors include her husband, David William Westmoreland, of Columbia; sons, Nick Westmoreland of Columbia; Eddie (Cathy) Westmoreland of Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandchildren, Hannah (Ryan) Murphy, Tyler Worthington, Tina (Shea) Tandy, Dr. Derek (Tiffany) Westmoreland, and Mark (Laura) Westmoreland; and ten great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Worthington; sisters, Edith Staggs, Alma Massey, and Katie Winchester; and brothers, Ray Blocker, Allen Blocker, Carl Blocker, and Herbert Blocker. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
