Russell Sparkman

Russell Sparkman Mr. Dan Russell Sparkman, 89, farmer and dairyman and resident of Carter's Creek Pike, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson and Sonny Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Burwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Burwood Church of Christ. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ollie A. Sparkman and Gertie Dodd Sparkman. In 1936 he married Vivian Marie Jacobs Sparkman of Columbia. From 1950 - 1964 he made his home in Marietta, Georgia where he ran a dairy farm. He was a member of Burwood Church of Christ. Survivors in addition to his wife are a brother, Ollie Joe (Alice) Sparkman of Burwood and one nephew, Joe Sparkman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Patton Sparkman. Pallbearers will be Peffie Gomez, Michael Ford, Anthony Sims, Jack Willis, Sam Allen Dodd, David Kinzer and Jason Dodson. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. and Jenny Locke, Henry Paul Woody, Monroe and Ava McMeen, Jimmy and Shirley Walters, Paul and Sue Dell Ellis, Lee Lockridge, Morton Lockridge, Jim Henry Thompson, members of Burwood Church of Christ and past and present caregivers.
