Mrs. Ruth Howard Hawk, 88, longtime resident of Nashville, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at her residence on Crofton Park Court in Columbia where she had made her home for the past one and a half years. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Kent Hall officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Run Cemetery in Fountain Run, Kentucky at 3 p.m. Friday. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. On September 28, 1937 she married Roy B. Hawk who preceded her in death July 29, 1979. She was a graduate of Fountain Run High School in Kentucky. She was a former member of Hermitage Church of Christ and attended Graymere Church of Christ since moving to Columbia. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy H. and Carmack Skelton of Columbia; one sister, Loraine Gibbs of Fountain Run, Kentucky; grandchildren, Susan (Tom) Campbell of Franklin and Jeffrey (Misty) Skelton of Hohenwald; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Campbell, Logan Campbell, Clay Campbell all of Franklin and Ansley Roberts of Hohenwald. She was preceded in death by five sisters, her twin, Ruby Gumm, Nina Dean Cook, Allene Murphy, Mary Fraim and Virginia Hughes. Pallbearers will be family and friends, Tommy Gumm, Gordon Hughes, Thomas Campbell and Eddie Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Robinson, Kirk Brothers and Elders at Graymere Church of Christ.
