Mrs. Ruth Mai Gossett Potts, 85, widow of L. B. Potts, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at her residence on Dog Creek Road in the Santa Fe Community. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Elmore Nazarene Church with Rev. Ronnie Johnson and Rev. Howard Alexander officiating. Burial will be in the Potts Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late John A. Gossett and Ella Gray Gossett and a member of the Elmore Nazarene Church. Survivors include five daughters, Helen (William B.) Malugin of Santa Fe, Daisy (Fred) McCord of Santa Fe, Patsy (Austin) Moss of Primm Springs, Jewell (Kenneth) Webb of Santa Fe, Evelyn (James) Black of Duck River; four sons, Wallace Potts of Hillsboro, Roy (Melvie) Potts of Santa Fe, Mac (Shirley) Potts of Theta, Emerson (Paulette) Potts of Water Valley; a step-son, James Potts; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Rachel Massey. She was preceded in death by two step-daughters, Della Adkisson and Gladys Brooks and a son, Ollice Potts. Family members will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are members of Elmore Nazarene Church.
