Mrs. Ruth Geraldine "Deanie" Pinson Preston, 86, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at Life Care Center in Columbia. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, West Virginia is in charge of arrangements. The daughter of the late Roy Edward Pinson and Letha Pinson, she was born December 19, 1921 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a 1938 graduate of Wayne High School and attended Marshall College in Huntington, West Virginia. She resided in Kenova, West Virginia most of her adult life where she was an active member of Bethlehem United Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, tailor and noted craftsman and instructor of white oak basketry. Survivors include a son, Harold (Bitsy) Preston of Thompson's Station; a daughter, Patty (Paul) Goldzung of Columbia; sister, June Marcum of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Mary (Greg) Rossiter of Bentonville, Arkansas, Gene Preston of Huntington, West Virginia, Andy (Terri) Preston of Raleigh, North Carolina, Taylor (Kim) Frazier of Richmond, Virginia, Forrest Frazier of Guysville, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; and friend and caregiver, Diane Hazen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Thomas Preston and one sister, Maxine Preston. Special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Columbia.
