Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Derryberry Yeager, 80, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at her residence on Sharon Circle. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David McGregor and Rev. Terry Perry officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Gideon Blackburn Derryberry and Nannie Fox Derryberry. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a graduate of Columbia Business College. For 17 years, she was computer operator for E. I. DuPont Company and also was co-owner and bookkeeper of Yeager Automotive. Mrs. Yeager was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church and very active in the work of Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary and loved needlework and crochet. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Clyde E. Yeager of Columbia; a son, Robert Allan (Janie) Yeager of Franklin; five daughters, Faye (Henry) Miller of Hampshire, Beverly (Houston) Jones, Melissa (William "Butch") Ellis, Malinda (Alvin) Luna, all of Columbia, and Mary Anne Balcer of Flint, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Mary Derryberry, Cornelia Griffies, Frances Priest, Evelyn McMillion, Alma Worthington, and Sarah Fitzgerald; 3 brothers, G. B. Derryberry, Charles Derryberry, and William Derryberry. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of Gideon's International and Adult Sunday School Class at West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
