Sam Thomas Westmoreland

Mr. Sam Thomas Westmoreland, 71, retired insurance agent with Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at his residence on Chestnut Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Ward officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home. He served in the United States Air Force and attended the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Nora Phillips Westmoreland of Columbia; three sons, Mark (Ann) Westmoreland, Jeff Westmoreland, Tony (Patricia) Westmoreland all of Columbia; one sister, Donna Bennett of Columbia; seven step-children, Donna (Junior) Sasser of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Emily (Brian) Sizemore of Phoenix City, Alabama, Timothy Dale Keeton of Lawrenceburg, Tammy (Tony) Hampton of Leoma, Rodney Allred of Pulaski, and Billy Joe (Evelyn) Keeton of Leoma; eleven grandchildren; sixteen step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
