View Funeral Webcast Samuel Jesse Beddingfield, 90, retired employee of Bellsouth and resident of Columbia, died Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Wilson Henderson officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at Kirkland Cemetery in Lincoln County. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 22, 1932 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charlie Beddingfield and the late Nova Winford Beddingfield. On July 18, 1953, he married Hazel Marie McMillen Beddingfield who preceded him in death October 4, 2019. Sam worked 44 years with AT&T. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved the University of Tennessee sports, loved coaching sports, especially baseball. Twenty-one and 0 record in BabeRuth Baseball which has never been broken. Mr. Beddingfield was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, where he was former Deacon for 50 years and taught Sunday school class for over 20 years. He was a member of Sugar Ridge Bluegrass Band and sang tenor while playing guitar. Survivors include his son Ricky Ray Beddingfield (Penny Worley).
