Sandra G Compton Reed

Mrs. Sandra Gail Compton Reed, 65, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Vann officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Murphy, North Carolina native was the daughter of Allie Ray Hickman Compton Wise of Columbia and the late Zopher Compton. On March 31, 1961 she married William Wade Reed, Sr. who preceded her in death July 19, 2005. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Reed was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church where she was formerly employed as church secretary. In addition to her mother she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jody) Spencer of Columbia; son, William Wade (Kimberly) Reed of Columbia; six grandchildren, Amanda Holt, Landon Reed, Jesse Spencer, Paul Spencer, Heather Greer and Kevin Greer; a sister, Judy (Randy) Cole of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul Spencer, Landon Reed, Jesse Spencer, Ben Dunn, Jody Spencer and Larry Logue. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Cole, Mark Dunn and Dr. Jeff Boruff.
